TASD Business Manager Honored by YMCA

dsecorYMCA Volunteer of the Year - Whether Doreen was being a busy mother of two, a non-traditional college student, a grant writer for the county or the business manager for the school district (and sometimes more than one of those at a time) she always seemed to find time to give back. For years she has volunteered to teach and continues to teach group fitness class not only for the Y but also for the local hospital. She is a mentor to local youth. She is the treasurer for the Towanda School District Foundation and finance chairman for her church. Of course her favorite volunteering these days are with her grandson, Jackson!
When she joined our advisory board 3 years ago it was with enthusiasm. She stepped into the board President's position on short notice and has not missed a beat. She brings to the YMCA her passion for health, wellness and fairness to everyone.

August – School Bus Safety

It’s that time when school buses are everywhere. If a school bus has its lights flashing and stop arm extended, you must stop. The only exception is if you are on the opposite side of a highway divided by a concrete barrier or grassy median. If you are following or traveling alongside a school bus, the law also requires you to stop at least 10 feet away. Learn more about the school bus stopping law and penalties for violations at www.DriveSafePA.org.
